Technology Integration Course Offered This Summer

The University of Arts will be offering the following course at the Downingtown STEM Academy this summer. The course is open to all educators, but DASD employees can receive a discount on tuition.

Integrating Technology into the Curriculum (3 credits)
Instructor: Kristie Burk

Face-to-face Meetings: June 9, 10, 11 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (21 hours)
Online Meeting: 21 additional hours to be completed on your own by June 19

Teachers can use educational technology to enhance learning, to improve motivation and engagement, to increase accessibility, to individualize instruction, and to improve communication. In this course, you will learn ideas and skills for integrating technology effectively into your teaching. You will learn tools to help you with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Teachers, including:

  • designing and developing digital age learning experiences and assessments
  • modeling digital age work and learning
  • promoting digital citizenship and responsibility

We’ll be looking at new presentation tools, Google Apps for Education, Twitter, formative assessment tools, and content-rich Web sites. By the end of our time together, you’ll have a treasure of ideas for integrating all types of technology into your lesson plans across the curriculum!
