Website Wednesday: OpenStax

Today’s website is OpenStax, a resource for free college-level textbooks. Sponsored by Rice University and several other non-profit organizations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, OpenStax offers open-source, digital textbooks to students.  Right now, the free peer-reviewed textbooks include US History, Chemistry, Algebra, Trigonometry, Psychology, Biology, Anatomy, and more. Students can download the books or they can read them online.  This is a great resource for teachers looking to find content for their secondary classes!

Also, OpenStax is now developing free, digital textbooks for high school students funded by a grant from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation.  The pilot starts in the Fall of 2015, but teachers can sign up now.
